Literary Forums The Writing Program is pleased to host authors, critics, and publishers in this ongoing program of readings and discussions. Series and single-admission tickets to these public events can be purchased the day of an event or in advance from the Box Office at 66 West 12th St. The Box Office is open Mondays-Thursdays, 1:00-8:00 p.m., and Fridays, 1:00-7:00 p.m., or call (212) 229-5488 during Box Office hours. You can also e-mail boxoffice@newschool.edu (provide your name, contact e-mail or telephone, forum title/date, and number of tickets required). The New School graduate Writing Program sponsors a three-day festival honoring the great American poet John Ashbery. Ashbery has won the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award, as well as MacArthur, Guggenheim, and other prestigious fellowships, and is the author of more than 20 books of poetry, including Some Trees (1956), Self-Portrait in a Convex Mirror (1975), A Wave (1984), Can You Hear, Bird (1994), and Where Shall I Wander (2005). He is also the author of three books of critical prose and co-author, with James Schuyler, of the novel A Nest of Ninnies. In 1988 he served as the inaugural editor of "The Best American Poetry" series. He holds a titled professorship at Bard College. During the three days of the festival, poets, critics, and scholars from far-flung places will discuss various aspects of Ashbery's achievement. A gala ceremony featuring the presentation of the 2005 Frost Medal. The winner delivers the annual Frost Lecture. Winners of the other PSA Annual Awards are officially announced, and a reception follows the program. Co-sponsored with the Poetry Society of America and the Writing Program.
> top Publishing Triangle Awards Thurs., May 11, 7:00 p.m. Free admission. Every year, the Publishing Triangle presents awards for the year's best gay and lesbian writing in a gala ceremony. Awards for fiction writing are presented in partnership with the Ferro-Grumley Literary Awards. The Publishing Triangle itself presents the Judy Grahn Award for Lesbian Nonfiction, the Randy Shilts Award for Gay Nonfiction, the Audre Lorde Award for Lesbian Poetry, the Publishing Triangle Award for Gay Poetry, and the Bill Whitehead Award for Lifetime Achievement. The Robert Chelsey Foundation awards for playwrting are also presented at this event. Hosted by the Writing Program.
