A variety of financial aid is available to qualified graduate students matriculated in the Graduate Writing Program. Assistance is granted on the basis of need and merit, with financial need determined in accordance with federal formulas. No one should decide against applying for admission to the MFA program for financial reasons.
The New School participates in the full range of federal and New York State financial assistance programs, and The New School offers a number of scholarships and awards for which students in the graduate Writing Program may be eligible. The Writing Program also offers a limited number of scholarships to students who demonstrate financial need. The deadline to file for financial aid is March 1 for the following academic year. It is not necessary to have an admission decision to begin the financial aid process. Applicants to the MFA program must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or, for international students, the Foreign Students Financial Aid Application, by the financial aid deadline to be considered; the FAFSA school code is 02780. More information about financial aid opportunities at The New School is available from the Financial Aid Office, 65 Fifth Avenue, New York NY 10003; 212.229.8930 or on the Financial Services web page. |
