www.nsu.newschool.edu/internationalaffairs Michael Cohen, Director, cohenm2@newschool.edu The New School offers a new hands-on, problem-solving, practice-oriented graduate program combining analysis of the changing global economy and culture with an understanding of the economic and social problems facing developing countries. The first class was admitted in fall 2001. The program brings together the extensive resources of The New School, including the faculties of its graduate programs in media studies, management and urban policy, and the social sciences (anthropology, economics, political science, and sociology), and the Senior Fellows of the World Policy Institute. Students also have opportunities to work closely with practitioners of international problem-solving and to participate in field internships in a developing country institution such as an NGO, local government, or international organization. This problem orientation is supported by coursework in the analysis of institutions and the role of media in the representation of international affairs.
